June 2026 · A few minutes for your head
Three small things that make a hard week easier
No appointment required — just a few ideas you can use today.
|
|
Hi Reader,
You don't need to be in crisis — or even thinking about therapy — to want to feel a little steadier. Most weeks just ask a lot of us, and small, repeatable habits do more for that than any big overhaul.
So this month, three things you can try today, whether life feels heavy right now or you're simply keeping your tank full for later.
|
|
Try this week
1. Name it to tame it
When stress spikes, pause and put one word to what you're feeling — "overwhelmed," "lonely," "wired." Naming an emotion measurably lowers its intensity; it shifts your brain out of pure reaction. Next time you feel the surge, finish the sentence "Right now I feel ___" before you do anything else.
|
2. Protect one anchor
Pick a single daily non-negotiable — a short walk, ten quiet minutes, a real lunch away from the screen — and guard it like an appointment. Stability doesn't come from fixing everything at once; it comes from one small thing you can count on every day.
|
3. Lower the bar for "is this worth talking about?"
A lot of people wait until things feel unbearable before they reach out. But you don't have to be at a breaking point for a conversation to help. If something's been sitting on your mind for a few weeks, that's reason enough to say it out loud to someone you trust. A little earlier is almost always easier than a little later.

When you're ready, starting is easier than it used to be
The easiest first step? Meet online.
If talking to someone would help, you no longer have to find a commute or a waiting room. We meet with clients by secure video, anywhere in New Jersey — evenings and weekends included — so the only thing you need to start is a quiet 60 minutes. (Prefer in person? Our Maplewood office is open too.)

Know someone having a rough stretch? Forward this their way — sometimes the most helpful thing isn't advice, just a small nudge that says "I was thinking of you."
